Georges Kepenekian Elected Mayor of Lyon, France

LYON — On July 17, Georges Kepenekian was elected Mayor of Lyon, the second largest city in France.

Dr. Georges Kepenekian was born in Lyon, France, on August 9, 1949. He is a urologic surgeon and the director of the strategic center of St. Joseph-St. Luc Hospital of Lyon since 2005. He was the Deputy Mayor of Lyon since 2014 and since 2008 counselor on culture.

Kepenekian is a defender and supporter of Armenian Genocide recognition and is a member of the Bullukian Foundation Board of Directors of Lyon.

He is a member of the Socialist Political Party.
