YEREVAN – A number of film directors from Turkey have applied for making a film about the Armenian Genocide, Director of the National Cinema Center of Armenian Gevorg Gevorgyan. He said that the film is to be shot by the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in 2015.
“As of now we have received 19 applications (screenplays, sketches and treatments) mostly from Armenian filmmakers but also from the United States, France and Turkey,” Gevorgyan said, adding that a special committee may be formed to select the best project, jointly with the Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum. It will be a hard choice, and we ma well select something from each application and compile some final story. Here there must be no ambitions but just a common goal – to prejudice a good film about our history, a story that will be interesting to the international audience,” Gevorgyan said.
