BURBANK — to mark the 125th anniversary of the Social Democratic Hunchakian Party (SDHP), a conference featuring several world renowned scholars will take place on Oct. 27 at Woodbury University in Burbank, CA.
The event is co-sponsored by the Richard G. Hovhannisian Chair in Modern Armenian History at University of California Los Angeles, the Armenian Research Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn; the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research, and Woodbury University.
Renowned scholars who have already committed themselves to participate in and present papers at this conference include Prof. Ara Dostourian, Dr. Ara Sanjian, Dr. Gerard Libaridian, Prof. Vartan Matiosian, Dr. Garabet Moumdjian, Dr. Hratch Tchilingirian, Dr. Vahram Shemmassian and historian Aram Arkun.
The co-sponsors and organizers are issuing a call for papers, in anticipation of additional submissions, not only from the United States but also form around the world. All proposals will be peer reviewed by committee of experts in the field. The authors, whose abstracts are accepted, will be notified by e-mail by August 31, 2012.
The co-sponsors hope that this conference will this break some new ground in study of the political, intellectual, and social history of the Armenian people from the end of the nineteenth century to the present.
